A message from the Norma Jean Calderwood Director – Erin Becker
It is the mission of the Cambridge Art Association (CAA) to build a vibrant community through visual art: connecting individuals and facilitating dialogue among artists and art lovers of all ages and backgrounds. To accomplish this, CAA exhibits quality works of art and seeks to enrich lives and engage art enthusiasts and collectors. CAA also provides educational opportunities to its members and others to enhance their skills as artists and promote the appreciation of visual art.
Since 1944, the CAA has been committed to exhibiting and promoting the work of regional, New England artists.
As we celebrate our 71st year as an Association, we embark on realizing a 3-year vision for financial stability and organizational growth. The steps of this plan – conceived after countless hours of conversations with our constituents – will bring positive change while also securing the longevity of a much loved institution.
Embracing our new mission statement, we will continue to work to “build a vibrant community through visual art.” We will do this by focusing on our already outstanding exhibition program, and by offering new venues to local artists. We will, for the first time in 30 years, open our membership to all New England artists. And we will continue to pursue the partnerships and outreach programs we have initiated over the past 3 years. And, as we have done for more than seven decades, we will celebrate the rich visual heritage of our home, the City of Cambridge.
As we look to our future, we embrace our past, celebrate our present, and work to ensure that the Association remains dynamic for another 70 years and beyond.
