MIKE FALLEK

CAA Member, Mike Fallek, recently finished his documentary, I Podcast Too: Small Podcasts Teh Voice of The Internet.

About |  There are thousands of amateur podcasters creating internet radio shows. Professional Podcaster Mike Fallek appears on 5 shows along with cameras to film the life of the modern day, internet version of a comedian trying to make it. Features Chuck Nice, Bibleish Podcast, an anime podcast, a magazine about podcasts, Faded Out – a true crime show, Advertisecast, Soundbyte, and more.

It covers and explains a wide range of the world of art including copyright, copycats, celebrity, press, film festivals, art advertising, journalism, animation, comedy, and broadcasting corporations. It’s pretty funny too and explains what being an entertainer in the internet age is like plus it is rated a 15 by the BBFC (about uk equivalent of pg13), and edited/partially shot right here in Boston.

CHRISTINE PALAMIDESSI

Wabi-Sabi
February 9 – March 2, 2019
Atlantic Works Gallery, 80 Border Street, East Boston
Open2-6pm Friday & Saturday, By appointment, and during events.

Christine Palamidessi and Bo Petran are stirring-up some Wabi-Sabi in East Boston. The quintessential Japanese aesthetic–irregular, intimate, unpretentious, earthy, murky, simple–meets the artists own Italian and Czech sensibilities. What results is a flowing visual umami tempered with classical beauty, existential grace and two zen gardens.

For the exhibition, Palamidessi sifts down to five elements: heart, breath, body, voice and children. Her plaster sculptures evoke traditional rocks in a raked Japanese garden; ceramic plates (once dropped by her Samurai husband at the Venice train station) have been lovingly repaired with kintsugi. Petran pulls meaning from the impermanence principle of Wabi-Sabi: “Sometimes, I would like to fly away from all the craziness in the world,” he says. His suspended wax and paper angel, “Siddhartha,” floats like a wind god over the stone-lined pathway of the installation.

The borders have come down at 80 Border Street, and we warmly invite you to come enjoy a parallel universe at the edge of nothingness on the humble waterfront in East Boston.
