wipCRIT

wipCRIT

Work in Process Critical Cohort (wipCRIT) launched at the Cambridge Art Association in Spring 2022. wipCRIT is for artists committed to deepening their studio practice and developing a sustained body of work. Facilitated by Cathleen Daley, the intent of each session will be to cultivate an open, reciprocal, and fully engaged dialogue between artists, and catalyze your studio mojo together with an intimate like-minded cohort.

This was a profound work experience, made possible by a completely open, encouraging leader who taught this diverse group by example how to look at each other’s work, how to think about our own, and what for each of us the next steps might be. I think we each left with this gift of a being given a direction forward that feels right for each participant’s particular vision. What a gift. ~ Cohort 1 participant

Cohort Leader: Cathleen Daley

Cathleen Daley is an artist, artist curator and co-founder of Room 83 Spring, an artist-run project space in Watertown, MA (2014 – 2021). Ms. Daley holds an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and a BFA from SMFA/Tufts. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Daley immersed herself in early formative contrasts, from the superb collection of the Albright Knox Art Gallery … to boundary-blurring Hallwalls Contemporary Arts … to the personal workshops, sewing rooms and kitchens of family and friends. Daley’s own studio practice and curatorial impulse embrace such a spectrum of expression and commitment to inclusive exchange. Represented by Provincetown’s Alden Gallery, Daley’s paintings and installations have been presented in numerous museums, universities, and galleries, including OK Harris, NY; New Britain Museum of American Art; Fitchburg, Provincetown and Nassau County Art Museums. Reviews of her work have been published in the Boston Globe, Art New England and artscope. Her studio is in Waltham MA. Active as a curator, mentor, juror, review board panelist, and visiting artist for MassArt, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Concord, Cambridge, and Duxbury Art Associations, Daley also consults with individual artists. Big Red + Shiny has published her essays and independent reviews of exhibitions, and Boston Globe’s Cate McQuaid praised Daley’s recent curatorial project “Soft Shoulder” at Cambridge Art as “merrily subversive”.
