CAA DAY

CAA DAY

Thank you for celebrating the creative community on CAA Day!

Whether you donated, attended an event, or shared a testimonial about what Cambridge Art Association (CAA) means to you – you helped us raise over $15,000 to support the CAA at this crucial time.
CAA Day 2021 has received support from 90 donors so far – double the total number of donors to the event last year! – and brought together over 200 members of the community via our week filled with free events.
We still need your help to reach our goal to raise $21,000 to bridge the gap created by the continued closure of University Place Gallery and our reduced exhibition capacity. And, any additional funds raised will support future creative programming at the CAA, including exhibitions of regional and national artists; networking and professional development opportunities; and community conversations.

Today, we are 79% of the way to our goal. Can you help us raise $5,350 to support the CAA?

Fundraising goal: $21,000
New Member Goal: 21 new Artist and Friend members

This year we’ve made it our goal to reach $21,000 in fundraising, and add 21 new artists to our membership! All money raised will help us bridge the gap created by the continued closure of University Place Gallery and our reduced exhibition capacity. Your donation will support CAA’s ongoing commitment to build a more equitable future for all members of our community, by providing sponsored membership and other opportunities for artists from traditionally marginalized communities.

Whether you’re an artist or an arts supporter, CAA membership provides you with valuable connections to the regional arts community through exhibition opportunities, discounts on public programs, and access to studio visits and other networking opportunities!

“It has been such a pleasure to work with the Cambridge Art Association over the past year. In these times, art and the institutions that support it are more important than ever. I am so grateful for organizations like the Cambridge Art Association.”

Molly McLaughlin, CAA Artist Member

“CAA was wonderful to work with and it was a pleasure to be able to act as juror for the Emerging Artists Exhibition. Platforms like CAA are incredibly valuable for building connections and providing experience and support for artists who are younger or just starting out in their careers.”

Kate Mothes, Curator/Founder of Young Space, yngspc.com (Past Juror)

When I transitioned away from the corporate world, my friend Liz Roache said two things I’ll never forget: 1) “This time is a gift,” and 2)”Join Cambridge Art Association”.

I took her advice thinking, what’s in it for me? There’s SO MUCH. Cambridge Art Association’s professional development courses elevated the way I present myself as an artist. Their hands-on programs are engaging and cover a variety of mediums. There are always opportunities to exhibit. Their artist talks are thoughtful and informative.

Above all, they bring people together and have been for 75 years. I’ve connected with SO MANY talented people through CAA.

The CAA community has boosted my confidence and influenced my work. I found SO MUCH value in CAA that I proudly serve as a board member. Our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Spring Art Party, would have been this Friday, May 8. It would have been our best party yet and you all would have been invited. Covid-19 may have interrupted those plans, but we are still celebrating!

Getting to know more colleagues in person and continuing relationships by talking about collaborations, sharing feedback about each other’s work, meeting in off time to develop personal relationships. Walking each other through, for example, a trial presentation for a portfolio review. Writing a project proposal. Sharing Instagram interviews. Enjoying every workshop I took and with help to put my learning into action. Being a member of a solid, well-run welcoming organization with a broad range of skilled artists who have fun learning from each other. Enjoying a past portfolio review. Keeping years’-long friendships in a warm, supportive community.

CAA does important work in supporting the creative and photographic community. It connects artists to each other, offers numerous ways to showcase and exhibit work, and makes everyone feel welcome. Even during COVID!
