You Don’t Have to Take Orders from the Moon
Short Film
About | I am reaching out to share my latest accomplishment! I premiered my first short film on Halloween. After a lifetime of dreaming and 6 months of planning we wrapped production on March 11th days before the lockdown.

Throughout quarantine my editor and I worked through zoom for over 170 hours editing. It is finally done and I want to share it with everyone who has been part of my artistic journey this far!

You Don’t Have to Take Orders From The Moon is a short horror film about a tortured woman who must decide how deep into her own darkness she is willing to tread as a looming force promises her everything she has ever wanted.

I’d love for you watch and share with your audience – through your social media or newsletter. This movie is my baby and I am so excited to put it out into the world!

Inspired by Sienese frescoes and particularly Amborgio Lorenzetti’s “City by the Sea” (1340), Andre’s work explores the social contract we humans create between urban environments, our government and nature.

The Fusion of Work and Dream
Bromfield Gallery
450 Harrison Avenue, Boston MA
November 6 – 29, 2020
About | I believe that broken things can be beautiful. The Fusion of Work and Dream series of hanging constructions began life as cardboard boxes I crushed with my car. The damaged pieces were collected, marked, painted and sanded, even dipped into liquids to chemically alter their appearance. Leftover debris, no matter how small and insignificant, was saved and incorporated into the pieces.

The hardware holding all these irregular and loose pieces together is intentionally visible, and has an important role to play in the aesthetics of the pieces. The series of encaustic/mixed media paintings, Where Are We Going?’ are meant to take part in a conversation with the hanging constructions. The large shapes in the center of each piece are made from tracings of several of the crushed pieces used in the making of the hanging constructions.

Collective Futures Fund
Emergency Relief Funds for Visual Artists
Deadline: November 27, 2020
For more information: https://www.collectivefuturesfund.org

About | The Collective Futures Fund is a new fund directly supporting artists and artist-run activity in the Greater Boston area. Our first project is a one-time grant to provide emergency support to visual artists in the Greater Boston-area. The Fund will offer forty $1,500 grants by December 2020 through a lottery system after determining eligibility, totaling $60,000 for artists in the area. This grant is intended to help visual artists whose income has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and who need assistance with basic expenses such as food, housing, medical costs, and child care.

In every corner of the city, artists are caregivers, neighbors, community members, and family, and contribute to the health, well-being and vitality of their neighborhoods and families. This emergency relief fund is for them – open to artists from all backgrounds and practices, with minimal criteria. As part of a crisis that will continue to unfold, we believe that artists are fundamental to imagining the collective future of our city.

About | This year, Creative Marketplace looks a bit different than it has in past years. Cambridge Arts Open Studios has been re-imagined as an online art market, similar to an Etsy page for local Cambridge artists. This new program is inspired and informed by the past Creative Marketplace programs Cambridge Arts has produced since its launch in 2016.

Building on the Cambridge Arts Challenge, a pilot program that took place in spring 2015, Cambridge Arts applied for and received a multi-year grant from Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Adams Art Program to develop mechanisms to engage cultural economic development using the arts as a primary catalyst. The resulting initiative, Creative Marketplace, is comprised of a suite of programs that boost the visibility of the arts and drive local economic activity.
