Portfolio Review is one of the cornerstones of the CAA experience! It’s an absolute treat to have direct, uninterrupted access to a variety of experts who are devoted to supporting you as an artist worthy of their time, care, and respect. There’s simply nothing like it! I’m so grateful to CAA and all of the reviewers for their massively thoughtful efforts—both on camera and behind the scenes—to spark these transformative career connections.
Honestly the term “portfolio review” made me think of getting a portfolio reviewed for entrance into art school rather than a professional opportunity to be introduced to different people in the Boston/National art scene. I think that’s why I’ve never looked into doing this event before. I now know it’s an amazing opportunity to connect/show your work to individuals who’s radar you want to get on. Also, it’s a great opportunity to workshop a new idea/body of work and gain feedback on it or potentially find a space to show it in.
This is gold for an artist. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet with gallerists, curators, and art reviewers who are rarely available to artists outside of a select few. Having some honest questions and a thoughtful presentation of work makes this an invaluable experience.
I received deep, honest and useful feedback which confirmed and supported my vision. I started relationships that will now be ongoing and pivotal to my career. This event has marked a turning point towards seeing my dream come alive. I was informed that my work is: ready for gallery submission, provided names and contact info for local galleries who may likely be interested, learned that my current work is a fit for an incredible art consultant agency and confirmed an upcoming exhibition with a local museum. Needless to say, I’m pinching myself right now. Thank you Cambridge Art!!

I would tell other artists, do not consider missing this event, even if you feel you’re not ready, you will learn so much from this engaging experience with experienced and generous art professionals.
My experience at the portfolio review was very professional, focused, and necessary for my art practice. The range of reviewers available to choose from was impressive. The organizers did a great job, including scheduling the reviews and the Zoom format with breakout rooms and the chance to chat with some of the other participants.
You curate a wonderfully diverse range of reviewers, who can offer different kinds of perspectives and advice. I value that.

CAA’s portfolio review is one of the most rewarding events I have participated in. It’s an incredible opportunity for me, as a curator, to meet regional artists, some of whom I have heard about but not yet had the chance to meet. The CAA’s review is effortless and well-run, making it a joy to connect with working artists in the area.
What is wonderful about the online CAA Portfolio Review is that it is accessible wherever you are, bringing meaningful feedback to artists across New England and beyond, without the barrier of travel or cost. It pairs artists with reviewers who come prepared with knowledge of the local ecosystem, the international landscape, and specific opportunities that are most relevant to artists’ practices and goals.
In this recent CAA portfolio review, I met with some artists who were entirely new to me, some who I had heard of but not had the chance to interact with, and even one who I had connected with in their role as administrator, but not as an artist. Each of these interactions are valuable to me in expanding my networks and widening my roster of potential artists to draw upon for exhibition.
The artists who come through CAA are rigorous and serious, and I know I will always see strong work.
The CAA Portfolio Reviews are a wonderful way to meet artists practicing in the region who I might not have the opportunity to see otherwise.
I was able to meet with artists who have been on my radar for some time, but for one reason or another, we’ve just never connected. I appreciate having the dedicated space to speak with an artist about their work, as opposed to trying to have those conversations at an opening or in passing.
