About Karen Berman-Mulligan | Karen’s favorite subject is the sea. She first works on site, quickly capturing the energy of the scene with broad brush strokes and complementary colors where the highest points of interest are for her. Bundled in a rain jacket or down coat, wearing latex gloves over winter gloves, you’ll see Karen out in the open, even in winter. Back in her studio, videos and photographs remind her of the experience of being there. She finds that the more familiar she is with a place, the more she sees it in a new way, allowing new details to be seen. These details become her inspiration. Karen looks for those differences – what has changed? The challenge is to represent the same view in a totally different painting.
Acrylics are her usual medium, but sometimes watercolor on paper is the right material. Karen is happiest with blues, pinks, yellows, and grays. She uses greens in unrealistic places.
The theme of resistance motivated my earlier works. Now, she has entered a softer period, looking more at interdependence, connection, co-existence, and mutual respect. She creates movement and energy using lively brush strokes, and relationships between color, shape, and form. Is it realism? Is it abstract? Definitely painterly. She skirts the line. The emotive expression honors how no two waves, rocks, or impressions in sand are alike. Because nature is always in flux, each experience is unique. Her hope is that viewers of my paintings will see new and different aspects each time they come back to them.

About Amy Kaufman |Inspiration comes from everyday events and traveling. Amy’s color palette reflects her life near the seashore as well as being in the city. Seascapes, landscapes, people, buildings, patterns, and textures, all have an effect on her work. The vivid colors she uses in her paintings are warm and alluring, inviting you when viewing it, to respond to my art. Amy always enjoyed the moment she feels inspired to start a piece of art to have it completed. The final outcome is not planned but rather morphs into what it becomes. She likes to show the layering of the pieces whether it is the texture, the brushstrokes or the colors underneath. This way, each time you look at her art, you see more details and surprises.

About Pat Mahon | As an artist, Pat works on boards with acrylic paint, paper, photographs, crayons, and sometimes ribbon or other materials. Her focus is on helping the various elements come together until the work needs no further adjusting. Often, she begins with a landscape where the feeling and hues of the place are what she admires. Her objective is to translate the essence of that scape into paint and paper or to create a whole new landscape. Sometimes she knows the place well, while others are newly found.
For many years, her professional work has involved developing marketing programs, publications, and books. Writing is often a key part of her work, as is attention to and oversight for graphic design.
