BLUE 2026

BLUE 2026

MARCH 11 – APRIL 24, 2026

Opening Reception & Awards Presentation | Thursday, March 19 from 6-8pm

Presented at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery & CAA @ University Place

Juried by Laisun Keane, Owner and Director of the LaiSun Keane Gallery

Submission Deadline | Friday, February 6 at 5pm EST

WHY BLUE?

For 25 years, the Cambridge Art Association has hosted a fall exhibit, open to artists +18 from the New England states, centered around a color – RED or BLUE, depending on the year. Both the success of the exhibit series, and the challenge to participating artists, lies in channeling the varied meanings of a color like BLUE. With both positive (a blue bird sky) and negative (feeling blue), it is a color that evokes a range of emotions. BLUE is more than a color.

Past jurors for the RED & BLUE Biennials include: Joseph Ketner; Amy Sadao (Director, ICA Philadelphia); Howard Yezerski (Miller Yezerski Gallery); Carl Belz (Rose Art Museum); Jane Farver (MIT List Visual Arts Center); Vera Ingrid Grant (The Ethelbert Cooper Gallery of African & African-American Art); Nick Capasso (Fitchburg Art Museum); Sarah Montross (deCordova Sculpture Park & Museum); Dan Byers (Carpenter Center for Visual Arts); Layla Bermeo (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston); and Dina Deitsch (Tufts University Art Galleries).

Please note: that BLUE 2026 will be presented at two galleries Kathryn Schultz Gallery and CAA @ University Place. Artists cannot choose which location their piece will be exhibited. The entirety of the exhibit will be featured online for the duration of the exhibition timeline.

ABOUT THE JUROR

LaiSun Keane

LaiSun Keane (she/her) is the owner of an eponymous gallery in Boston’s SoWa Arts District, which specializes in contemporary works of art by American and International artists. LaiSun graduated with a Bachelor of Art Theory from University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia. After graduating, she was involved with the non-profit gallery, the National Art School Gallery, and a commercial art gallery, AAG, which specialized in Australian Aboriginal Art. She moved to Boston in 2013 and in her indefatigable fashion, dived straight into the local art scene volunteering with many film festivals and non-profit art establishments. It ultimately led to her involvement with a long established ceramic gallery in Concord for five years, of which the final two years she was a partner. In April 2020, LaiSun started her own gallery, and has since staged ten exhibitions focusing on emerging artists, women, minorities and the overlooked.
