How it works:
- If you feel your work might be a fit for our program, please submit an inquiry, including a link to your up-to-date artist website, to Candice Driver at cdriver@cambridgeart.org.
- Your work will be reviewed – please know, the review process may take up to 4 weeks.
- After your work has been reviewed and accepted, it will be uploaded into our online archive.
- Our client proposals are custom-curated. If your work is not immediately placed with a client, do not be discouraged. We work with clients on an ongoing basis, and are soliciting new clients for the program.
ART RENTAL PROGRAM FAQ
Q: What kind of artwork are corporate clients looking for?
A: Generally, our current clients prefer bold, abstract works. We currently have lending artists working in a variety of media, including: painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor); photography; mixed media; printmaking; encaustic. Generally, rental clients do not want work that contains the following: nudity, violence, political messaging.
Q: I submitted my work to the Art Rental Program. How long will it take before my first rental?
A: It depends. Submission to the program does not guarantee that your work will be rented to a client. We custom curate each client space, so what works for one client might not work for another.
Q: How long will my work be out on loan?
A: Cambridge Art Association’s Art Rental Program offers rentals to corporate clients for 3, 6, or 12 month intervals.
Q: Will I receive payment when my artwork is rented to a client?
A: Yes! Artists receive 50% of a sale or rental of their artwork through the CAA Art Rental Program. The rental percentage is 50% of the fee paid by the client for each rental period. The rental percentages for artists are as follows:
6 months — artist receives 12.5% of the purchase price
12 months — artist receives 25% of the purchase price
(Example: If the work is valued at $1,000, the client would pay $250 to rent the work for 6 months. Of this, the artist would receive $112.50)
Q: Can I visit the client site where my artwork is installed?
A: No. Our clients sites are private offices, and are not open to visitors.
Q: A client contacted me directly about purchasing artwork. Can I work with them?
A: If this happens, please contact our Art Rental Consultant immediately. This action represents a breach of contract on the part of the client. Should an artist in the Art Rental program follow through on a direct sale, this would represent a breach of contract with the CAA, and would result in removal from the program and from the CAA membership.
