About Level Up | Level Up showcases the creativity and artistic talent of CAA’s Student Members. CAA’s Student Members are currently enrolled in undergrad and graduate programs, or are recent graduates, and work in a range of media. With this exhibit, CAA hopes to highlight and support the work of artists in our community at a transitional moment in their artistic careers.

This is exhibit is only open to current CAA Student Members, and all artwork will be featured in the CAA @ Canal Gallery.


About Chenoa Baker | Chenoa Baker (she/her) is a curator, wordsmith, and descendant of self-emancipators. In addition to leading the exhibition program at ShowUp (previously Beacon Gallery), she worked on: Gio Swaby: Fresh Up at the Peabody Essex Museum; Simone Leigh at ICA/Boston; Simone Leigh; and Touching Roots: Black Ancestral Legacies in the Americas at MFA/Boston. Her autobiographical-style art criticism appears in Hyperallergic, Public Parking, Material Intelligence, Studio Potter, Boston Art Review, and Sixty Inches From Center among others.


IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Exhibit dates: February 16 – March 14, 2024
  • Opening Reception: February 22, 2024 from 5-7pm
  • Artwork Drop off: Tuesday, February 13 (12-5pm) and Wednesday, February 14 (12-5pm) at the CAA @ Canal Gallery
  • Artwork Pick up: Friday, March 15 (12-5pm) and Saturday, March 16 (10am-2pm) at the CAA @ Canal Gallery

Please note that all works must be delivered to the CAA @ Canal Gallery (650 E Kendall St, Cambridge) on the schedule drop-off and pick-up dates. CAA cannot schedule alternative times. CAA cannot accept shipped artwork for this exhibit.

Artists who are not in contact with staff about a late pick-up within 7 days of the official dates will incur a $15 per week fee until the artwork is picked up. The fee must be paid before or at pick-up. For any questions or concerns regarding artwork drop-off or pick-up, please contact Candice Driver, cdriver@cambridgeart.org
