CAA’s Art Rental Program: Q&A with Maria Duffy

May 04, 2018

CAA’s Art Rental Program was re-launched and it has been a huge success. This program is a vital part of of the CAA, helping to fulfill our mission of building a vibrant community through visual art by connecting artists with art lovers of all ages and backgrounds. We work with clients throughout the Cambridge/Boston area and there is a very high demand for new artwork to rent.

The Art Rental Program allows clients to rent artwork for 3, 6 or 12 month intervals for a percentage of the purchase price of each work. Most clients sign yearly contracts with 3 or 6 month rotations so that they can keep their spaces looking fresh.

What are the benefits of participating in CAA’s Art Rental Program?

First and foremost, having your artwork rented by one of our clients is incredible exposure for you and your work. Secondly, we compensate each artist directly for rented work which is not the case with many other art rental programs. We install placards with details (artist, title, medium) on each piece and often end up selling works through the Art Rental Program.

What types of clients does CAA rent to?

The Art Rental Program is designed to accommodate a variety of clients (home, corporate, public, etc.).  Since we work with such a wide variety of clients, we are looking for a diverse collection of artwork to rent. We encourage artists that work with all different subject matter and media to participate.  All of our clients work within different budgets so there is no specific price range that we work with.

Who delivers and installs the work?

When your work is rented, we ask that you drop if off at the CAA offices. Then, Maria Duffy, our Art Lending Program Manager, and our art handler deliver and install the work. Once the rental period is up, we will have your work ready for pick up at the CAA offices.

Is artwork insured while it is rented?

In CAA’s contract with our clients, the client assumes all liability for any loss or damage to a work.
